Marlboro Food Emporium build-out resumes: owner

Image
By Dave Schatz Marlboro - Earlier this summer, on July 19, NJ Retail News caught up with Joe Doleh, the man responsible for bringing a long awaited supermarket back to the site of the former A&P in the Marlboro Shopping Center, but has unfortunately faced recent construction delays .  Asked at that time for an update, Doleh, who owns the Food Emporium , said he was: “Waiting on the roof to be completed and closed before we can start working inside,” adding all was good, though it would likely take as long as six more months to finally open. On August 7, Doleh said the roof should be “finished in two weeks and we’ll be starting on the interior next Monday.” NJRN fired back: Any idea when you’ll open and do you expect any other delays? “I don’t have a date for completion yet; I need to check with the subcontractors. I should have a better idea when they start working,” responded Doleh. “Hoping not to expect any obstacles.” NJRN caught up with Doleh again on August 25

General Plumping Supply has 9 other design showrooms in the Garden State By Dave Schatz Paramus - This spacious Kohler showroom opened at the end of last year and General Plumbing Supply (GPS) has been busy since then adding additional displays, according to Elisabeth Woomer, a lively saleswoman.  "From lighting, to faucets and sinks to showers, cabinets and countertops, your inspiration is our mission," reads GPS literature.  While GPS lists "designer showrooms" in Edison, Morris Plains, Bayonne, Hawthorne, Orange, Bergenfield, Matawan, Lakewood, and Green Brook on a broshure, it also has "additional locations" in Ridgefield, Union, Middletown, Dover, and Tenafly. But the Paramus location is not listed on the broshure yet.  "For years, we've partnered with the most trusted manufacturers - from Kolher, Moen, and Grohe to KraftMaid," adds the broshure.  And the shop is right next door to the Suburban Diner.

Owner still hopes to open shop by end of October By Dave Schatz Marlboro - The Food Emporium being built-out on Route 520- and 79 that’s set to replace the A&P could still open by the end of October despite a “Stop Construction” order issued by the township on May 15, according to its owner. Owner, Joe Doleh’s, modern 31,250 square foot new supermarket in the Marlboro Shopping Center marks Monmouth County’s first Food Emporium, and it’s also his first in the Garden State, said the Colts Neck resident. But Doleh already operates three supermarkets in New York that trade under the Key Foods Marketplace banner, while his son owns a fourth, he said. “We had them before Key Foods acquired the Food Emporium banner (from A&P at the bankruptcy auction), he said, explaining that he’s been a member of the Staten Island, New York-based Key Food Stores Co-operative since 2009. “Key Foods bought the name,” and intellectual property rights, he added.
